Common Goods is a band, an event,
a movement, and a philosophy.
At its centre is a five-piece live band:
Algo.Rhythm, Daniel Retamal, Sam Winter, Joseph Concepcion, and Tope Adesina.
THE JAM:
ON THE FIRST SUNDAY OF EVERY MONTH, we host a free live freestyle hip-hop jam at Misfits in Footscray. The band plays fully improvised music from 6–11pm alongside a rotating lineup of Melbourne’s most compelling rappers and singers.
The night is hosted by Jordan Dennis and Algo.Rhythm, with guest musicians regularly jumping in. There’s space for the audience to step up and freestyle too, but it’s not an open mic and it’s not a showcase.
The only requirement is that you bring something real and you commit to the room.

Common Goods exists to create space for radical creative participation.
It’s about what happens when ideas are shared instead of protected, and when process matters more than polish.
We believe creativity grows through proximity, not competition.
Nothing is owned, nothing is extracted, and no one takes more than they give.
The night works because people listen, not because they’re trying to be seen.
Right now it’s a jam night, but it’s growing into something bigger than that.
