HERITAGE LISTED

Heritage Listed is the newest track from Naarm-based artist Algo.Rhythm.

A genre-blending producer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist also known as Emmanuel Cancino.

Rooted in his Chilean and Mauritian lineage and raised in Melbourne’s south-east, the project is a reclamation of story, memory, and identity.

The title plays on the concept of “heritage-listed” buildings - structures protected for their cultural significance. Algo.Rhythm applies this idea inwardly, treating his lived experience with the same reverence. Each track names a part of himself that has been distorted, buried, or misunderstood: faith, family, masculinity, grief, love, pride. Through soul-drenched harmonies, funk-infused production, and honest lyricism, Heritage Listed becomes a sacred archive, a place where what’s been inherited can be interrogated, honoured, and transformed.

This music is equal parts personal reckoning and intergenerational offering. It weaves together the sacred and the sensual, the spiritual and the political, the ancestral and the futuristic. In doing so, Algo.Rhythm invites listeners into something more than a sound.
